Pakistan captain Shan Masood has urged his team to adopt a proactive approach and learn quickly from their mistakes after a 120-run defeat to West Indies in the second Test.
Speaking after the match, which saw Pakistan bowled out for just 133 on Day 3, Masood emphasized the need to capitalize on key moments, praised individual performances, and stressed the importance of improving team dynamics to avoid further collapses.
Chasing 254 runs for victory on Day 3, Pakistan’s batting collapse began early, with Kevin Sinclair and Jomel Warrican making quick breakthroughs. Starting the day at 76/4, Pakistan needed 178 more runs to win, but they were bowled out for just 133 in the opening 20 minutes of play.
Shakeel and Ali’s dismissals marked the beginning of the end, and the game slipped away from Pakistan in dramatic fashion.
After the defeat, Pakistan captain Shan Masood expressed his disappointment but acknowledged that the team had made progress during the series. “We’ve struggled in certain areas, like getting the tail out, but there are improvements we need to build on,” he stated.
Masood praised his team’s commitment despite the result. “We’ve shown resilience, and that’s something I appreciate,” he said. Reflecting on individual performances, he noted that the team had managed to win three out of four Tests played on difficult pitches, with encouraging contributions from players like Saud Shakeel and Rizwan.
Looking ahead, Masood stressed that Pakistan’s batting approach must evolve. “We need to take the game to the opposition, like Kraigg Brathwaite did,” he said, highlighting the importance of aggressive play and making the most of each opportunity.
