The Pakistan baseball team delivered another commanding performance on Tuesday afternoon, decisively defeating India with a lopsided 14-1 score in the West Asia Baseball Cup semifinal held in Karj, Iran.
The mercy rule was invoked after seven innings, as Pakistan’s overwhelming lead left no opportunity for an Indian comeback.
The defending champions began the game aggressively, scoring five runs in both the first and third innings to establish firm control.
Third baseman Hussain led Pakistan’s offensive charge, going 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs (runs batted in) and four runs scored. Center fielder Wasim Akram and designated hitter Muhammad Rehan also contributed significantly, combining for four hits and four RBIs.
On the mound, starting pitcher Muhammad Haris set a strong tone, pitching 4.1 solid innings, allowing only one earned run while striking out four Indian batters.
The bullpen was even more dominant, with relievers Syed Muhib Shah and Hussain Imam combining for five strikeouts over 2.2 scoreless innings to secure the victory.
India struggled across all aspects of the game, committing an alarming 10 fielding errors, while their pitchers issued eight walks. Their lone run came in the first inning, and they managed only four total hits against Pakistan’s formidable pitching staff.
With this emphatic win, Pakistan advances to Wednesday’s final where they will face Palestine as they aim to defend their West Asia Baseball Cup title.
Meanwhile, in a video message, Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, President of the Pakistan Federation Baseball, dedicated the victory against India to the armed forces of Pakistan.
