RAWALPINDI – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, for the third time after her persistent failure to appear in court.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah was presiding over a case registered against Ms. Khan and 10 others related to a protest on November 26.
During the hearing, the 10 other co-accused individuals and five prosecution witnesses were present in court. However, Aleema Khan once again failed to appear.
Expressing displeasure over the continued non-compliance, the court not only re-issued the warrant for Ms. Khan but also issued a separate non-bailable arrest warrant for her guarantor, Omar Sharif.
The court has ordered the police to arrest and produce Aleema Khan at the next hearing on October 22. In a related directive, the ATC has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi to verify the property documents submitted by the guarantor.
