Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to intensify cooperation in promoting a cashless economy and accelerating digital transformation. Both sides have pledged to share knowledge, expertise, and technical assistance in this area.
Bilateral Consultative Meeting
The announcement came after a bilateral consultative meeting on advancing the cashless economy. Pakistan was represented by Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, while the UAE delegation was led by Minister of State Mohammed bin Hadi Al Husseini.
UAE Shares Digital Payments Expertise
During the meeting, UAE officials provided a detailed briefing on the country’s digital payments and receipts system. They highlighted the UAE’s successful experiences in the digital economy, demonstrating how their system has improved efficiency and financial inclusion. The Pakistani delegation appreciated the briefing, noting that these insights would be valuable as Pakistan works to advance its own digital economy.
Shehbaz Sharif’s Vision
The Pakistani delegation emphasized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of building a cashless economy.
