On Sunday, Pakistan and Armenia officially established diplomatic relations. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, and the two officials exchanged a joint communiqué to formalize diplomatic ties between the two countries.
According to the Foreign Office, both foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to the United Nations Charter and discussed potential cooperation across various sectors, including economy, education, culture, and tourism. Both leaders expressed their desire to work together to pursue common goals.
In a post on the social media platform X, Ishaq Dar stated that he and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed and exchanged the joint communiqué. The exchange took place in Tianjin, China, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting. Ishaq Dar noted that the two ministers reiterated their commitment to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and agreed to strengthen cooperation in multiple sectors, including economy, education, culture, and tourism. This development follows a recent telephone conversation between Ishaq Dar and the Armenian Foreign Minister.
