Pakistan has advanced to the final of the World Games squash plate event after Noor Zaman defeated his Japanese opponent in the semifinal. Zaman secured a 3-1 victory to seal Pakistan’s spot in the title match. The World Games 2025 are being held from August 8 to 12 in Chengdu, China.
What is the “Plate Event”?
The Plate Event runs alongside the main draw, offering a second chance for players who are eliminated early from the primary competition. This gives them more match play and an opportunity to compete for a title. Nasir Iqbal, the other Pakistani player, entered the Plate Event after an early exit from the main draw. He went on to secure a decisive victory over Austria’s Daniel Lutz, showcasing his resilience. The representation by both Iqbal and Zaman at this event marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s squash history at the World Games.
