A shocking video depicting the fatal shooting of a couple in an alleged ‘honor killing’ in Balochistan has ignited widespread outrage across the region.
The disturbing footage, which began circulating on social media over the weekend, graphically shows the couple being brutally murdered by unidentified assailants.
Initial police investigations suggest that the tragic incident occurred several days prior to Eidul Adha, but it only recently gained public attention following the video’s viral circulation online.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti promptly took notice of the incident after the video went viral, unequivocally denouncing the murder as “a blatant insult to social values and human dignity.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CM Bugti confirmed that a case has been registered under anti-terrorism laws based on the state’s complaint. He also announced that one suspect, allegedly involved in the woman’s murder, has been taken into custody, and a search operation is actively underway to apprehend the remaining accused.
The chief minister stated, “The police have been directed to take immediate action against this heinous crime,” adding that the law will run its course and the culprits will face punishment with “full severity.”
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind further affirmed that the chief minister has instructed law enforcement agencies to pinpoint the exact location of the incident and ensure that all individuals involved are swiftly brought to justice.
CM Bugti expressed profound sorrow over the killings and issued a stern warning that such acts of brutality will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He emphasized, “Those who challenge the writ of the state will be dealt with strictly. No one has the right to take the law into their own hands.”
Reports indicate that the slain couple had reportedly entered into a love marriage, which allegedly became the pretext for their killing in the name of honor.
