Orlando Bloom drew attention at the MTV VMAs with a love-filled speech, introducing his fiancée, Katy Perry, by her birth name, Katheryn Hudson.
The *Pirates of the Caribbean* actor had the honor of inviting Perry on stage at New York’s UBS Arena to accept an award for her iconic music videos. “Give it up for our newest Video Vanguard, Katheryn Hudson, Katy Perry,” Bloom announced.
Reflecting on his relationship with the *American Idol* judge, he continued, “You fell in love with her as Katy Perry, I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson. You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor into every song she writes and every music video she creates.”
Bloom expressed his admiration for Perry, noting that as her partner and the father of their daughter, Daisy, he understands her true strengths beyond her public persona.
Perry, who received the 2024 MTV VMAs Video Vanguard Award on September 11, thanked Bloom and their four-year-old daughter for keeping her grounded and inspiring her to continue delivering her best work.
The 39-year-old pop star celebrated the occasion with a medley of her biggest hits, including “Teenage Dream,” “E.T.,” “Dark Horse,” and “California Girls.”
