Oprah Winfrey has made a surprising revelation about her weight loss journey, revealing how her perspective on “thin people” has drastically changed since she began using Ozempic.
Oprah, one of the A-listers who turned to medication for weight loss, shared her experience during a conversation with Dr. Ania Jastreboff on her podcast, The Oprah Show. She admitted that her views on thin people had completely shifted after using a weight loss drug.
“One thing I realized the very first time I took a weight loss drug was that all these years, I thought thin people had more willpower,” Oprah explained.
The Color Purple producer added that using the medication helped her understand that those who don’t have to worry about their weight don’t think much when eating. “They eat when they’re hungry, and they stop when they’re full,” she noted.
Oprah, who has lost almost 50 pounds since starting her journey, also mentioned how her body became a target for jokes after her popularity declined. She said, “And I accepted it because I thought I deserved it.”
She shared that, after much struggle, she learned to accept herself and didn’t allow even her own self to look down on her for not reaching her goal weight.
Previously, Oprah was hesitant to admit using weight loss drugs due to the stigma attached, but after undergoing knee surgery, she realized she needed all the help she could get for her fitness journey. After consulting with her doctors, she decided to overcome her fear of judgment and used weight loss drugs to assist in her pursuit of a healthier, fitter life.
