In a major crackdown against a well-organized group operating globally, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested 15 foreign nationals and 19 Pakistani citizens in Karachi. According to Sindh Interior Minister Zia Lango, the suspects used online investment scams to deceive citizens and rob them of their money. The suspects used social media to lure people into investing in cryptocurrencies and forex, making false promises of high returns.
In an intelligence operation, the Karachi police raided 25 major call centers, where they found that citizens were being deceived with fake login details, leading them to believe they were investing in legitimate online portals. The suspects were found with 37 computers, 40 mobile phones, over 10,000 mobile SIM cards, and six unauthorized forex exchange machines.
On this occasion, Additional Director NCCIA Tariq Nawaz stated that the investigation team is working on technical evidence and that the arrests were made under the DHA Phases 1 and 6 areas. The Meteorological Department has warned that a western wind system may affect the city from Monday to Wednesday, leading to a possible increase in cold temperatures.
The suspects claimed to be anti-vehicular lifting specialists and had kidnapped a car owner along with the vehicle. Local fishermen reported that dolphins had been seen trying to protect and rescue a baby, while a regional police officer (RPO) stated that the suspects had used a drone to attack and fire at civilians.
In other news, the government has announced that the government’s negotiation committee will include all its allies, including the Peoples Party. Sindh Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has announced that the committee’s chairman will be the provincial law minister, Aftab Alam.
Meanwhile, the security forces have launched an operation in the Kohlu district of Balochistan after receiving information about the presence of Indian proxy terrorists. A GDA official has reported that two dead dolphins were found on the western coast of Gawadar.
In a separate incident, a protest is being held outside the Pakistani consulate in Bradford, UK, over the arrest of a Pakistani national. The High Commission has stated that the relevant material will be investigated by the British police, and if necessary, a criminal investigation may be initiated.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has announced that Israel has officially recognized Somalia as an independent and sovereign state. During an investigation, the police have obtained footage from a web camera installed in the suspect’s car, which includes audio and video recordings and is considered crucial evidence.
