Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has publicly denied serious allegations from his sister, Ann Altman, who filed a lawsuit accusing him of childhood sexual abuse.
The lawsuit, filed on January 6, claims the abuse occurred between 1997 and 2006, starting when Ann was just three years old, with the final incident allegedly taking place after Sam had reached adulthood.
Ann Altman’s legal claim includes allegations of regular sexual abuse and rape, and she seeks damages exceeding $75,000. The accusations have shocked the tech world, given Sam Altman’s prominence as the co-founder of OpenAI and the head of the company that launched ChatGPT in 2022.
In response, Sam Altman issued a joint statement with his mother and two brothers, labeling the claims “utterly untrue.” The statement expressed concern for Ann’s mental health and noted that she had previously made similar claims on social media. “Caring for a family member who faces mental health challenges is incredibly difficult,” the statement said, adding that the situation has caused immense pain for the family.
Ann Altman has previously made public accusations of abuse against Sam and their brother Jack, alleging a history of mistreatment and seeking legal justice.
