A home explosion in southwest Harris County, triggered by a gas leak, resulted in no reported injuries, according to authorities. The incident unfolded in the 15800 block of Camino Del Sol Drive when the homeowner turned on the stove, causing the explosion. While there were no injuries, damage included the home’s attic, a sliding glass door, and blown-out air vents. Flames were observed in the attic.
The homeowner was aware of the gas leak, having noticed bubbling on the ground for some time, but was unsure of how or whom to report it to. Officials revealed that the leak was both inside and outside the home, leading to the lifting of the roof during the blast.
Fire officials emphasized the importance of reporting gas leaks promptly, considering the potential life-threatening consequences. Kris Parrent from the Community Volunteer Fire Department highlighted the need for public awareness regarding the dangers of natural gas, mentioning indicators like bubbling in the backyard during rain, high gas bills, and a smell resembling rotten eggs.
