The National Telecom and Information Technology Security Board (NTISB) has issued a critical advisory warning users about the increasing threat of cyber attacks in Pakistan.
The advisory emphasizes the risks associated with using VPNs, artificial intelligence tools, and suspicious web browser extensions, urging citizens to exercise caution.
According to the NTISB, a new wave of cyber attacks has been detected, with hackers targeting personal and sensitive information. Browser extensions, commonly used by millions, have been identified as a primary tool for data theft. Hackers can exploit these extensions to steal credentials from social media platforms like Facebook and online banking websites.
The advisory has flagged 16 commonly used browser extensions, including AI-powered tools like ChatGPT-4 and Gemini for Chrome, labeling them as potentially dangerous. Free VPNs and unverified AI chatbots have also been included in the list of suspicious software.
