Neil Jeju describes himself as a typical high school student who enjoys watching and playing basketball, hanging out with friends, and indulging in his favorite food, pizza.
Like approximately two million other students nationwide, he took the SAT, anxiously awaiting his results. When he finally checked, he was stunned to find a perfect score of 1600. Achieving a perfect score puts him among the top 0.03% of test-takers, with only about 300 students achieving this feat annually.
“I wasn’t specifically aiming for a perfect score, though it would have been cool,” Neil remarked modestly.
But Neil’s success didn’t stop there. He also aced the ACT, scoring perfectly in all four sections. Celebrating this achievement, Neil and his friends went out to Pizza Hut to mark the occasion.
Neil’s academic prowess extends beyond standardized tests; he also achieved a perfect score on the PSAT, although he suspects he missed a question on the STAAR test.
Neil attributes his success to his chemistry teacher at Hebron High School, who made math and science enjoyable. He also credits his parents for laying a strong educational foundation and his older brother, Noel, who also excelled on the SAT, albeit with a “mid-1500” score.
Despite their competitive banter, Noel and Neil have collaborated on a YouTube channel to help other students prepare for the SATs and wrote a book available on Amazon. Their key advice to students is to maintain balance, emphasizing that constant studying isn’t sustainable in the long run.
Noel received a full scholarship to college, while Neil aims to pursue a career in medicine but is still deciding on his future school. With his academic achievements and potential offers, one thing is certain: Neil will likely celebrate each milestone with his beloved pizza.
