Early on Saturday, Israeli shelling in Gaza’s Khan Younis and the Al-Nuseirat camp area resulted in the deaths of at least nine Palestinians, including two children and a woman, and left at least 15 others injured, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa. The strikes targeted two houses in southern Khan Younis, prompting Israel to issue new evacuation orders for residents in northern Gaza amid ongoing heavy bombardment across the region.
In a separate development, Israeli forces raided a home in Nablus, West Bank, belonging to a relative of a Palestinian accused of attempting a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv on August 18. The bomber died when the device exploded prematurely, injuring a bystander. Hamas has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was carried out in collaboration with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and pledging further assaults.
Additionally, Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Friday resulted in the deaths of at least eight Hezbollah fighters and a child. Hezbollah responded with artillery and rockets, escalating tensions along the southern Lebanese border and raising concerns about a possible broader regional conflict. Among the casualties were six Hezbollah fighters killed in various southern Lebanese locations and another fighter killed near Aitarun. A separate strike in the village of Aita, about 14 km north of the Israel-Lebanon border, killed a Hezbollah fighter named Mohammad Najem and a child.
