As the third season of Tulsa King approaches, its lead actor, Sylvester Stallone, is teasing the arrival of a major star. The star in question is Samuel L. Jackson, who is set to appear in the new season. “It’s like a heavyweight prize fight,” the Rocky star shared with Gold Derby. He added, “You’re just sitting in your corner, thinking, ‘What’s your opponent going to be like?’ I’ve known Sam for 30 years, but when he comes on set, he has a certain walk and voice, and he developed his character. Sparks happen.”
Samuel’s involvement will expand the series’ universe, as he will also be featured in the Tulsa King spinoff, NOLA King. The spinoff’s premise states that “Russell reconnects with his Louisiana roots and sets up his own criminal enterprise.”
Regarding the transition to working on a streaming series, Sylvester mentioned that his co-star did not require any guidance. Instead, the Creed actor explained how he had to make his own adjustments to fit into the show. “The hardest thing to do in acting is to try and be unself-conscious and relaxed.” He joked, “Otherwise, I’d be sitting here in my underwear having a cigar! You obviously have to put on somewhat of a performance.”
Ultimately, Sylvester expressed his surprise that Tulsa King was overlooked by the Emmys despite its strong ratings. “Why do you think that is—is it my clothes?” the actor jested. “It’s nice to win awards, but the real reward with this show is that it’s held together in an incredibly competitive marketing place.” He concluded, “This could be the best season yet, and as for what’s coming up in Season 4? Buckle up.”
Tulsa King season three’s inaugural episode is scheduled to debut on September 21.
