Pakistani authorities have confirmed a new polio case in North Waziristan’s South Waziristan district. According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), the affected child’s samples were taken last year, making this polio case a year-old one. NEOC reports that a total of 31 polio cases have been recorded in Pakistan so far in 2025, with polio being an incurable disease that can cause lifelong disability.
The NEOC has announced that the upcoming national anti-polio campaign will be held from February 2 to 8 across the country. During this campaign, over 45 million children will be administered with polio drops to protect them from the disease. Parents are urged to get their children vaccinated during the campaign. The number plates of important personalities, including former President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, will be auctioned.
