Consumers can now lodge complaints regarding illegal outlets
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) have launched an innovative mobile application, ‘Rah Guzar,’ marking a significant step toward the digitalization of Pakistan’s oil supply chain.
The launch ceremony took place at OGRA’s headquarters in Islamabad, chaired by OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan. Senior officials from the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), FBR, Customs, Explosives Department, and representatives from OCAC were also in attendance.
The ‘Rah Guzar’ app uses Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to help users identify legal petrol pumps and outlets across the country. The app also provides a platform for local governments and law enforcement agencies to detect illegal outlets or “box stations.”
Furthermore, Pakistani consumers can use the app to lodge complaints regarding illegal outlets, overcharging, or quality concerns, promoting transparency and empowering stakeholders.
OGRA Chairman Masroor Khan emphasized that the initiative began in August 2024 through discussions between OGRA and FBR. He stated, “‘Rah Guzar’ marks the first phase of a broader track-and-trace system aimed at enhancing accountability, curbing illegal activities, and strengthening the integrity of the oil industry.”
This initiative is expected to be a game changer in addressing the challenges posed by illegal petrol pumps and corruption. The launch of the ‘Rah Guzar’ app reflects OGRA’s commitment to effective governance and a transparent, accountable energy ecosystem.
