According to the official election results, Naeem Hanif was elected as the President of the Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ), while Qamar Zaman Bhatti was elected unopposed as the General Secretary of the organization.
Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Secretary Arshad Ansari announced the newly elected PUJ leadership at the Lahore Press Club, in the presence of a large number of journalists.
As per the official results, Hanif assumed the role of President, while the Senior Vice President position went to Yousaf Abbasi. Nadeem Zaeem was elected as Vice President, and Bhatti took charge as General Secretary. Mudassir Hussain Tatla secured the Joint Secretary position, with Sher Ali Khalti elected as another Joint Secretary. Naseem Qureshi was elected as Treasurer.
For the Executive Council, Javed Farooqi, Gohar Butt, Zaheer Shehzad, Kashif Salman, Ejaz Maqbool, Khawaja Hassan Ahmed, Talal Ishtiaq, Shahid Rizvi, Salahuddin Butt, Naila Nadeem, Husnain Akhlaq, Adnan Butt, Masood Zafar, Jamal Ahmed, Afzal Ayubi, and Umar Hafeez were elected.
Congratulating Hanif, Bhatti, and the Executive Council, PFUJ Secretary Ansari expressed confidence in the newly elected leadership. He stated, “The newly elected leadership will play a crucial role in addressing the challenges journalists face across the country, particularly in the struggle against oppressive laws like the PECA Amendment Bill.”
