Cities across North Texas have opened shelters where residents can get warm during this week’s frigid weather. Here are area locations:
Addison
Addison Township Warming Center, 401 N. Addison Road, will be open from 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday and from 4:30 p.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday.
Arlington
The Salvation Army’s Arlington Family Life Center, 712 W. Abram St.
Dallas
Fair Park’s Automobile Building, 1010 First Ave. The center will be open from noon Wednesday through Sunday. COVID-19 testing will be provided. People who test positive will be taken to a different site
The city’s 43 recreation centers and 29 libraries will be open during normal business hours for residents needing relief from the cold. Library and recreation center hours can be viewed online.
Denton
The MLK Jr. Recreation Center, 1300 Wilson St., will be open 24 hours starting 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Emily Fowler Central Library, 502 Oakland St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Central Fire Station, 332 E. Hickory St., will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Fort Worth
Fort Worth Convention Center, 1201 Houston St.
The city’s libraries and community centers will be open during normal business hours.
Garland
The Salvation Army, 451 W. Avenue D
Lewisville
The Salvation Army, 206 W. Main St.
McKinney
The Salvation Army, 600 Wilson Creek Pkwy.
Plano
