HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The Saharan dust and haze we saw Sunday will still be around today, but concentrations of the dust should be much lower. We should see it completely move out Tuesday.
Temperatures will be heating up this week with most days touching 100 degrees or just over. An isolated shower or storm in the afternoon cannot be ruled out but chances look to stay below 20%.
What do our rain chances look like this week?
Unfortunately they are looking slim to none. High pressure remains overhead which causes air to sink instead of rise. This should hinder our chances for rain. We could see an isolated pop up shower or two but most of us will stay dry.
How hot are these temps getting?
Temperatures look to top out at or over 100 degrees this week. We could see heat index values near heat advisory levels as early as Tuesday. Make sure you take the necessary heat precautions this week.
Is there anything worth watching in the tropics?
A Saharan dust cloud is currently overhead and stretches across much of the Atlantic. We should see the dust move out of SE Texas on Tuesday. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
