The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has apprehended two individuals, one of whom is an official from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), in connection with the leakage and sale of sensitive data.
According to NCCIA Hyderabad, Abdul Hakeem, a junior executive at NADRA, has been supplying classified information from NADRA’s database. His accomplice, Mohsin Iqbal, allegedly provided the national identity card numbers of individuals whose data was then accessed.
Investigators have also traced suspicious WhatsApp accounts linked to both Abdul Hakeem and Mohsin Iqbal through their mobile phones.
The suspects have reportedly been involved in the illegal trade of sensitive data for a considerable period, with the data being sold online in exchange for money.
Authorities stated that sensitive information belonging to citizens from various cities was being unlawfully distributed.
Following the arrests, further investigation is ongoing, and a formal case has been registered against both individuals.
