Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for their commitment to public service during a meeting with Punjab Assembly members on Wednesday.
Economic Stability and Development Projects
The meeting focused on the country’s overall situation, economic development, and public welfare projects.
Pakistan’s economy has shown signs of improvement, reflected in a sharp decline in inflation. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation dropped to 2.4% in January 2025, down from 4.1% in December 2024 and a staggering 28.3% in January 2024.
This is the lowest inflation rate in over two years, indicating reduced price pressures in both urban and rural areas. In FY23, inflation exceeded 29%, reaching a record high of 37.97% in May 2023, but has been steadily declining since then.
Nawaz Sharif’s Remarks on Economic Stability
Expressing satisfaction over the stabilizing economy, Nawaz Sharif stated:
“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is working tirelessly at the Center, and the declining inflation rate is a sign of economic improvement.”
Economic growth has also gained momentum, with GDP expanding by 2.5% in the first half of FY2024-25, as per the Finance Division report.
Maryam Nawaz’s Leadership in Punjab
Nawaz Sharif praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, stating:
“Maryam Nawaz is serving Punjab not just as a chief minister but with the spirit of a mother and daughter.”
In response, Maryam Nawaz expressed her deep sense of responsibility, saying:
“Being Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, I feel even more responsible.”
She added that Shehbaz Sharif’s public service serves as a guiding principle for her, and she is committed to continuing the legacy of efficient governance.
Conclusion
Nawaz Sharif remarked that Pakistan’s development pace has accelerated, reflecting a positive transformation. He also expressed full confidence in the public welfare projects and initiatives underway in Punjab.
