Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for what he described as their “excellent performance” in guiding the nation through challenges and presenting a pro-people budget.
Speaking to the media at Avenfield Apartments in London, Nawaz Sharif conveyed his optimism for Pakistan’s future, asserting that the country is finally surmounting difficulties and progressing towards development.
“Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are performing exceptionally well. Pakistan appears to be emerging from a period of decline and entering a phase of advancement. If this momentum is sustained for the next eight to ten years, all our challenges will be resolved,” he remarked.
Appraisal of Budgets
Nawaz Sharif extended his congratulations to both leaders for introducing what he characterized as a public-friendly and forward-thinking budget.
“This budget represents a positive stride towards public relief and national development,” he stated, adding that their endeavors reflect genuine intentions and a steadfast commitment to enhancing the lives of ordinary citizens.
He attributed the recent improvements in Pakistan’s economic and political landscape to both effective leadership and divine blessings.
‘Pakistan: A Nuclear Power for Peace’
Nawaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s status as a nuclear power, reiterating that the nation’s nuclear capability is intended to ensure peace, not to instigate conflict.
“We developed this nuclear bomb not for warfare, but for the preservation of peace,” he declared. “Pakistan is fortunate to be a nuclear power today.”
Solidarity with Iran
Commenting on regional developments, the former premier criticized any military aggression against Iran and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for its neighboring country.
“What kind of humanity allows an attack on Iran?” Nawaz questioned. “We have stood with Iran in the past and will continue to do so.”
