Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has launched a severe accusation against the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming the party has failed to disavow an “anti-Pakistan narrative” being propagated through its channels. Speaking to Geo News at Parliament House, Khawaja Asif expressed deep concern over the political rhetoric and its potential impact on national institutions.
The core of the Minister’s critique centers on the social media activity originating from the PTI founder’s account. Khawaja Asif alleged that this account is being used to consistently build and disseminate narratives against state institutions, shifting between targeting the armed forces and the judiciary. He stated that the account serves as the source for all strategic directions and talking points for the party leadership. The Minister emphasized that the primary issue is not the eventual investigation into the account, but the PTI’s persistent refusal to distance itself from what he termed the “anti-Pakistan narrative.”
The Defense Minister characterized this political messaging as a conspiracy against the nation, asserting that it serves to please Pakistan’s traditional adversaries, India and Afghanistan. He argued that at a crucial time when Pakistan’s forces are engaged on both the Afghan and Indian borders, the PTI leadership appears to be aligning itself “with the ranks of the enemies” rather than with the state.
Khawaja Asif defended the military’s actions, noting that the armed forces have historically defeated India, creating a new chapter in history. He contrasted this with PTI’s focus, questioning whether they have forgotten the time when figures like Saqib Nisar and others allegedly turned the Supreme Court into a mockery. His statement signals the government’s view that PTI’s actions transcend mere political opposition and pose a threat to national stability.
