Najmul Hossain Shanto has been appointed as the captain of Bangladesh for the upcoming Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan and Dubai next month, the cricket board announced on Sunday. Key players, including Liton Das, are missing from the 15-man squad.
Former star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is also absent from the squad for the one-day international tournament.
The Champions Trophy will take place in Pakistan and Dubai from February 19, with Bangladesh placed in Group A alongside India, Pakistan, and New Zealand.
Bangladesh is ranked ninth in the ICC ODI rankings.
Their opening match will be against India on February 20 in Dubai.
