LAHORE: Former Pakistan batter Nahida Khan has been appointed as the manager of the national women’s team for the upcoming series against South Africa, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announded on Friday.
Nahida, 36, retired from international cricket in June after representing Pakistan in 120 matches. Her only experience as part of a team management staff was as assistant coach of Blasters in the women’s Pakistan Cup, which was held in May-June.
The Quetta-born cricketer’s stint as Pakistan team manager will end with the South Africa series, which will be staged in Karachi from September 1. Ayesha Ashhar will return as the team manager for Asian Games, said the PCB.
Another former Pakistan international Kamran Hussain will also be a part of the women’s team staff, replacing Saleem Jaffar as bowling coach, while Mauhtashim Rashid will take the interim role as the side’s head coach as the PCB looks to replace Mark Coles, who resigned from the post last week.
