Health authorities in England have confirmed the spread of a new type of infection, which is resulting in a large number of patients being admitted to hospitals.
According to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), the infection is identified as a type of Candidozyma. This virus enters the human body through the skin’s surface and directly impacts the bloodstream.
Of most concern to experts is the infection’s ability to remain alive in a human body for many years. This virus first appeared in Japan in 2009 and has since spread to more than 40 countries.
The UKHSA has warned that the virus can enter the body through a skin operation, an open wound, or a fungus, and in some cases, it can be highly dangerous. Critically, the infection can also be transmitted through physical touch.
