Myles Smith recently shared his eagerness to collaborate with music icon Ed Sheeran. Smith, who boasts the biggest UK song of 2024 with “Stargazing” and just received his first Ivor Novello award, is now poised to support the “Shape of You” hitmaker at his stadium shows. He’s optimistic that their connection will eventually lead to them releasing music together.
Speaking to Contact Music at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool, Myles commented on supporting Ed: “I am playing stadiums for the first time. It’s pretty nuts; but I’m really excited for the challenge.” When asked if he and the “Perfect” singer had plans to collaborate, he replied, “Not at the moment, no. But he is a great friend, so hopefully in the future.”
Beyond his musical endeavors, Myles also confessed that he “never imagined” his name would appear on Time 100’s list of most influential people. He admitted being caught “off-guard” when he saw his name alongside figures like Serena Williams and Mark Zuckerberg on the prestigious list. “That one caught me off guard. I never imagined I’d end up in it. It’s mad,” he confessed. “I think I just felt really grateful, you know? To be recognized on that level for doing something I love,” the “Sweet Love” singer stated.
The 26-year-old pop artist also discussed the success of his 2024 track, which has garnered over a billion streams. He shared, “You always hope people connect with a song, but ‘Stargazing’ just seemed to take on a life of its own.” Myles Smith elaborated on why the song resonated so widely after its release: “I think it’s the honesty in it – everyone’s either been through heartbreak or held on to hope when they probably shouldn’t have. It’s simple, but it’s real. And I think people felt that.”
