Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem has secured a triumphant win at the inaugural International Boxing Championship held in Quetta, adding another prestigious accolade to his career achievements.
The World Boxing Association (WBA) sanctioned event, hosted at Quetta’s Polo Club, marked the first International Boxing Championship of its kind in South Asia. The tournament showcased globally acclaimed boxers competing across various weight divisions, featuring four title fights among a total of eight matches.
In the main event, Muhammad Waseem demonstrated a dominant performance, knocking out Venezuela’s Veseton Orono in the ninth round to claim the coveted WBA World Gold Bantamweight Title, much to the delight of the home crowd.

Other international competitors who emerged victorious in their respective bouts included Jamie Gelly, Sohail Iqbal, and Alegz Delmaghani from the UK, alongside Tariq Zaina of Morocco and Jesus Seracho of Mexico.
The championship also highlighted women’s boxing talent, with Pakistani female boxers Fatima Hazara and Malaika securing wins against their compatriots in competitive matches.
The successful organization of this high-profile international boxing event in Quetta signifies a significant landmark for the sport in Pakistan and South Asia as a whole.
