ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet is set to undergo an expansion, with around 15 new ministers and advisers expected to be inducted, according to insiders.
As per sources, Mustafa Kamal from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) is among the four individuals being considered for ministerial positions.
Other anticipated additions to the cabinet include Hanif Abbasi and Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), along with Khalid Magsi from the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
Sources further revealed that some ministers might see their portfolios reshuffled, while others could be removed entirely. The final decisions were reportedly reached after discussions between the president and the prime minister.
According to reports, Hanif Abbasi is likely to be appointed as the Minister for Railways, while Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry is expected to take charge of the Ministry of National Health Services.
Similarly, Khalid Magsi is being considered for the Ministry of Communications, whereas Mustafa Kamal may be assigned the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The oath-taking ceremony for the newly appointed ministers is scheduled for February 27.
Currently, the Ministry of Science and Technology is overseen by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who also serves as the Minister for Federal Education.
However, sources confirm that while Mustafa Kamal may take over the science and technology portfolio, Siddiqui will continue to hold his position as the Minister for Federal Education.
