KHAIRPUR: The mother of a young domestic worker, who was allegedly murdered by an influential Pir in Sindh’s Ranipur town in 2023, has reached a settlement with the accused and requested the dismissal of the case.
Shabnam, the mother of the slain maid, submitted a written statement in court, confirming her settlement with the prime suspect, Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, his wife Hina Shah, and other accused individuals, including Fayyaz Shah and Imtiaz.
This development took place during a hearing at the additional sessions court.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Qurban Malano, informed the court that since his client had reached an agreement, the case should be dismissed, and bail should be granted to the accused.
Following the submission of Shabnam’s new plea, the court adjourned the hearing until February 17.
After the hearing, the deceased girl’s mother left the courtroom without speaking to journalists. Speaking to the media, her lawyer, Malano, stated that she had submitted an affidavit in which she expressed no objection to the case being dismissed or bail being granted to the accused.
He further added that a bail hearing for the murder suspects was scheduled for February 7, while the main case hearing would take place again on February 17.
Fatima Furiro, a young housemaid, was found dead at Pir Asad Shah’s residence in August 2023.
The case gained public attention after disturbing video clips of Fatima’s body, showing severe signs of torture, went viral on social media. In one of the videos, the injured girl is seen struggling to sit up on her bed before collapsing.
Fatima was the daughter of Nadeem Ali Tharro, a resident of Ali Muhammad Tharro village near Mehrabpur, District Naushahro Feroze.
Widespread public outrage, following media reports, led to the arrest of Pir Asad, his wife, and his father-in-law on charges of torturing the 10-year-old girl to death.
