Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf stated on Friday that Babar Azam would be better off batting at number four rather than opening the innings.
Sharing his thoughts on Samaa TV’s programme “Zor Ka Jor,” Yousuf said, “This isn’t the time to just blindly support Babar, as ultimately, it won’t be beneficial for him personally.”
“As a selector, I even gave the opinion of resting Babar Azam,” Yousuf revealed.

Earlier on Thursday, Yousuf had also commented that performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) shouldn’t be the sole basis for selecting players for the national cricket team.
Expressing his views on the same Samaa TV programme, “Zor Ka Jor,” Yousuf mentioned that he was unsure how Usman Khan was included in the national squad. “However, Usman Khan did perform well in the previous edition of the PSL,” he acknowledged.
He maintained his stance, saying, “Selecting players for the national team solely based on their PSL performances isn’t the right approach.”
Yousuf further elaborated, “It makes more sense to send a player with potential to the academy first. They should work on their skills there before being considered for first-class cricket.”
