Mohamed Salah has stated that he is not concerned about his future beyond this season, despite having less than a year left on his contract with Liverpool.
The Egyptian star, who has netted 213 goals for the club since joining in 2017, is one of three key Liverpool players whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season, alongside captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“Before the season, I thought, ‘I’ve got one year left, let’s just enjoy it and not think about the contract,'” Salah told Sky Sports. “I don’t want to think about next year or the future; I just want to enjoy this last year and see what happens. The most important thing is to take one day at a time and be grateful to be here.”
Salah has been frequently linked with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League. Last year, Liverpool reportedly turned down a $198 million bid from Al-Ittihad. In 2022, Salah signed a three-year deal, making him the highest-paid player in Liverpool’s history with an annual salary of over $18 million.
Despite ongoing speculation, the 32-year-old continues to perform at a high level, scoring in both of Arne Slot’s first two games as Liverpool manager, leading the team to victories over Ipswich and Brentford.
