ISLAMABAD: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir delivered a forceful and wide-ranging address at the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference in Islamabad, focusing heavily on national security and military doctrine. He issued a direct charge against the neighboring country, asserting that fostering terrorism is the tendency of India, not Pakistan.
Defining the nation’s military doctrine, Field Marshal Munir unequivocally stated, “We challenge and fight the enemy openly; we do not strike by hiding.” He affirmed that Divine support ensures victory in the “battle of truth.”
Addressing internal cohesion, the CDF warned that chaos and conflict arise in nations that abandon education and the pen. He stressed that genuine honor and strength are achieved through knowledge and hard work, not through division or fragmentation.
Field Marshal Munir also provided clarity on the crucial state-religious mandate, emphasizing that in an Islamic state, no individual or group other than the state is authorized to command Jihad. He urged the Ulema to foster unity and broaden the nation’s ideological perspective.
Concluding on strategic relations, he highlighted the historic defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and reiterated that Pakistan holds the unique honor, among Muslim nations, of being the protector of the Haramain.
