Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are drawing criticism for apparent missteps in their public relations strategies.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have reportedly experienced scheduling conflicts with their individual commitments, are being urged to better coordinate their calendars.
The specific instance highlighted is the simultaneous launch of Meghan’s new podcast focused on women’s empowerment and Harry’s court hearing in the UK concerning his publicly funded security arrangements.
Speaking to The Sun, Newsweek’s chief royal correspondent Jack Royston acknowledged, “I can understand it to a degree because Harry can’t simply reschedule a court case. That date would have been set in stone for months.”
“The only explanation I can think of is that perhaps Lemonade Media, the podcast production company, had a pre-existing schedule,” he suggested.
“However, Meghan is such a significant figure within Lemonade, which is her podcast production company, that you would imagine she could have requested a week’s postponement. In fact, it wouldn’t even need to be a full week; shifting it by a day or two would likely have sufficed.”
Meanwhile, expert Esther Krakue questioned, “I mean, these are the kinds of errors that simply wouldn’t occur if they were still part of the Firm.”
She elaborated, “Everything within the royal institution operates like a well-oiled machine. Now, they seem to be much more impulsive, driven by emotion, and inclined to make decisions on the fly.”
