The United Kingdom has launched one of its largest-ever operations targeting illegal immigration, resulting in the detention of more than 8,000 undocumented migrants from across the country. This significant crackdown signals a major hardening of the nation’s immigration policies.
According to British media reports, over 1,000 individuals residing in the country without legal permission have already been deported as part of this sweeping operation.
The raids have also extended to Northern Ireland, where authorities arrested more than 200 people who were found to be working illegally.
UK Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, affirmed the government’s tough stance. She stated that “every possible measure will be taken to protect the UK’s borders” and that strict policies will continue to be enforced to combat illegal immigration.
