Malcolm McDowell, the father-in-law of actress Lily Collins, has shared his honest opinion about her Netflix series, Emily in Paris. Collins is widely known for her starring role as Emily in the popular show.
Speaking to People Magazine, McDowell, who is the father of Collins’ husband Charlie McDowell, admitted, “To be honest with you, it’s not my kind of thing, and Lily knows that.”
Despite not being a fan of the show itself, McDowell made it clear he is a huge supporter of Collins. “But I’m the biggest fan of my daughter-in-law. I think she’s absolutely one of the great actresses,” he stated.
He went on to praise Collins’ “beautiful” and charismatic presence on screen. “She has such a beautiful quality,” he noted. “As far as I’m concerned, when she’s on the screen, there’s nobody else on it, because she’s not only a good actress, but she has a beautiful quality. I suppose, it’s a sort of charisma.”
This interview comes as McDowell is making headlines for his role in Et Tu. Meanwhile, the new season of Lily Collins’ Emily in Paris is set to be released on December 18, 2025.
