A significant administrative failure in London has sparked public safety concerns after a convicted criminal, jailed for sexual assault against women, was “accidentally” released from prison.
Following the revelation of this severe error, the London Police have launched an urgent manhunt for the fugitive, identified as Ethiopian national Haddush Kebato. The incident has exposed a major flaw in the UK’s prison service protocols.
Kebato had only been sentenced earlier this month to one year in prison after being found guilty on two charges. This case was already highly sensitive, as it had previously triggered anti-refugee protests in the country.
In a swift response to the crisis, UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy has ordered an immediate investigation into the accidental release. “Haddush Kebato should not be on our streets due to his crimes,” Lammy stated emphatically.
A spokesperson for the Prison Service confirmed that the officer responsible for the erroneous release has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
