The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Lahore has achieved a significant international milestone after being selected by the European Union (EU) and the Global Water Operator Alliance (GWOA) as an international trainer in the water and sanitation sector.
This important announcement was made at a conference in Bonn, Germany, organized by the Global Water Operator Partnership (GWOP). During the conference, WASA Lahore’s Director, Mudassar Javed, presented the agency’s successful service model, which received high praise from international delegates.
Following this achievement, WASA Lahore has been officially registered as a ‘Mentor Utility’ in the Global Water Operators’ Partnership Program, which is supported by UN-Habitat and funded by the European Union.
The practical benefit of this global recognition is that WASA Lahore’s successful model will now be transferred to other cities in Pakistan, aiming to improve the standard of urban services across the country. WASA Lahore will now provide modern training to other utility companies in critical areas such as IT reforms, customer services, managing non-revenue water (water loss), and advanced billing systems.
