Karachi: Police have made significant progress in the Mustafa abduction and murder case, recovering the murder weapon and securing a chilling confession from the prime suspect, Armaghan.
Brutal Torture and Murder Details
According to investigation officials, the suspect, currently in police custody on physical remand, has confessed to the horrific torture and murder of Mustafa.
During interrogation, Armaghan revealed that on January 6, he called the victim and the other suspect, Shiraz Bukhari (alias Shavez), to his bungalow, where he viciously assaulted Mustafa for two hours using an iron rod.
Investigators confirmed that the iron rod was later recovered from the guard room of Armaghan’s house in Defence’s Khayaban-e-Momin. Mustafa suffered severe injuries, with excessive bleeding from his head and knees.
The Gruesome Killing
Armaghan admitted that he was intoxicated at the time of the attack. His accomplice, Shiraz, attempted to stop him when Mustafa started bleeding excessively. However, after the brutal beating, both suspects loaded Mustafa into his own vehicle and drove towards Hub.
Upon reaching Hub, Armaghan opened the car’s boot and realized Mustafa was still alive. He then doused him and the car in petrol, mockingly challenging him to escape, knowing that his severe knee injuries had left him immobile. Despite Mustafa’s feeble attempts to move, he was unable to flee. The suspect confessed that he then set Mustafa on fire.
Immediately after igniting the flames, Shiraz urged Armaghan to flee. The two suspects hitchhiked back to Karachi in different vehicles.
Police Action and New Findings
Following Armaghan’s confession, Karachi police raided his bungalow and retrieved the iron rod used in the assault.
Further investigations revealed that Armaghan had been running an illegal outbound call center, scamming people in the United States by offering fake domestic services and stealing money through fraudulent schemes.
During the raid, police discovered multiple laptops, security cameras, motion detectors, walkthrough gates, and illegal weapons at the suspect’s residence. Reports also suggest that Armaghan employed more than 40 private security guards.
Armaghan had previously been booked in at least six cases, including violent offenses and violations under the Anti-Terrorism Act. After his confession and the recovery of illegal weapons, additional charges will be filed against him.
Case Background and Court Proceedings
The case involves the alleged abduction and murder of BBA student Mustafa, who went missing last month.
The case gained attention when Armaghan opened fire on a Karachi Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) team during a raid at his residence in DHA earlier this month. Police arrested him, but Mustafa’s whereabouts remained unknown until last week, when authorities revealed that charred human remains—presumably his—were found in a burned-out car near the Hub checkpost.
The victim’s body was buried by the Edhi Foundation. However, the court has ordered its exhumation for identification and forensic analysis. The Sindh Health Secretary has been directed to constitute a medical board and submit a report within seven days.
Following the court’s orders, a three-member medical board has been formed to exhume the body on February 21 at 9 AM.
Other than Armaghan, the police have also arrested Shiraz and recorded his statement. Investigators believe that he worked for Armaghan and was allegedly involved in planning both the murder and the disposal of the body.
