In a significant success against the militant infrastructure, Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has neutralized two highly wanted target killers affiliated with the banned group ‘Fitna-e-Khawarij’ in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The operation was launched based on intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorists in the Bannu area. Security forces acted swiftly to corner the militants, leading to an intense exchange of fire. According to the CTD spokesperson, the militants killed were notorious for their involvement in targeted killings and other subversive activities aimed at destabilizing the region.
A significant cache of weapons and equipment was recovered from the possession of the deceased militants, including a Kalashnikov rifle, pistols, hand grenades, mobile phones, and cards belonging to the proscribed organization. The scale of the recovery suggests that they were actively planning large-scale attacks.
The spokesperson further revealed that two other accomplices of the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness. A large-scale search operation is currently underway in the area to track down and apprehend the absconding terrorists. This successful CTD operation underscores the continuous efforts of security forces to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure peace and stability in the region.
