Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Senator Irfan Siddiqui, a senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and an acclaimed columnist. The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan has suffered a major setback, losing a ‘serious thinker, teacher, and principled scholar,’ whose absence will be felt for a long time.
Tribute to Integrity and Intellectualism
In his condolence message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid homage to Irfan Siddiqui’s intellectual and personal qualities. He highlighted that the deceased always focused on knowledge, tolerance, seriousness, and logic in both his writings and his personality. His guidance, always rooted in positive thinking and intellectual honesty, was a beacon for the nation.
The Prime Minister remembered him for his character, noting that:
- He was an affectionate, humble, and deeply refined human being.
- His scholarly contributions and national insight will continue to guide future generations.
A Loyal Confidant of Nawaz Sharif
Irfan Siddiqui was known to be one of the closest and most loyal confidants of Nawaz Sharif within the PML-N. Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged his service to the party, describing Siddiqui as an “important member and close associate.” He assured that Siddiqui’s contributions would always be remembered.
The Prime Minister described the death of Irfan Siddiqui as “a great loss for me, for the academic world, and for society.” He offered prayers for the elevation of Irfan Siddiqui’s soul and for patience and solace for the bereaved family.
