Lindsay Lohan recently spoke candidly about her film Freakier Friday ahead of its upcoming release.
For those unfamiliar, the new movie Freakier Friday reunites Jamie Lee Curtis and Lohan more than 20 years after their first film, Freaky Friday.
In the sequel, the 39-year-old American actress and singer’s character, Anna Coleman, has a daughter and a stepdaughter. The story takes a wild turn when four people swap bodies.
During the film’s premiere in London, Lohan spoke with the BBC and admitted that she was eager to make a sequel to the 2003 hit.
“Fans love the movie, and there’s such a strong loyalty. It made people so happy and I like to make movies that make people feel joy,” she said.
The Mean Girls star added, “There’s so much going on in the world now that it’s nice to make something that allows people to forget about what’s going on.”
Freakier Friday marks Lohan’s return to Hollywood and the Disney universe after more than a decade away. She had been largely absent for most of the 2010s, making her return to the big screen with Falling for Christmas in 2022.
Freakier Friday is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 8, 2025.
