Lahore is currently experiencing an intense heatwave as temperatures soared to 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday, with the Meteorological Department cautioning that the mercury could climb further in the coming days, potentially reaching 45 degrees.
According to the latest advisory issued by the Meteorological Department, hot and humid winds are exacerbating the already unbearable conditions for residents. The Met Office has issued a heatwave alert, forecasting that the extreme weather will persist throughout the week.
In the southern Punjab districts, temperatures may reach an alarming 50 degrees Celsius, triggering widespread concern.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has also issued a warning and instructed all relevant departments to remain on high alert.
PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia confirmed that heatwave counters have been established in all major hospitals across the province. He advised the public to maintain hydration, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, and refrain from strenuous physical exertion during peak heat hours.
