The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Food Authority has launched decisive operations in Peshawar, arresting a butcher for selling substandard meat and seizing a massive cache of harmful, adulterated spices from a local factory.
According to the Food Authority spokesperson, a raid at a butcher shop in Peshawar’s Bacha Khan Chowk led to the recovery of meat sourced from underage animals, intended for sale to consumers. Recognizing this serious violation of public health standards, the butcher was immediately arrested and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him.
In a separate, parallel operation, the Authority raided a spice manufacturing factory in Peshawar. The team successfully confiscated 255 kilograms of heavily adulterated spices. The spokesperson detailed that the mixtures contained dangerously unhygienic materials, including harmful husk, bran, and chemical dyes.
All the seized adulterated goods, which posed a severe risk to human health, were instantly destroyed on the spot to prevent their entry into the market. The KP Food Authority affirmed its commitment to protecting consumers and stated that its campaign against the sale of substandard and adulterated food items will continue without let-up.
