King Charles and the Royal Family have responded to Prince Harry’s assertion that his loss in the UK security case was an “establishment stitch-up.”
In reaction to Harry’s claim, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson told The Sun newspaper: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.” Harry lost his final appeal against the Home Office and the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec). The Duke of Sussex had sought VIP-level security for his UK visits after his and Meghan Markle’s security was downgraded following their departure from royal duties and move to the US. Following the UK court’s decision against him, Harry gave a candid interview, discussing his relationship with his family and his perspective on the ruling. He told the BBC, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” and expressed his sadness at not being able to share his home country with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. In a significant comment, he also suggested that his father, the King, with whom he is no longer in communication, could still assist by “getting out of the way and letting the experts do their jobs,” rather than directly intervening.
