Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has seen a significant increase in terrorism-related incidents in 2025, according to a recent report by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The report revealed that a total of 1,588 terrorism-related incidents took place in the province during 2025, with the highest number of incidents (394) reported in Bannu. The report further stated that 181 terrorism-related incidents occurred in North Waziristan.
According to the CTD report, a total of 502 civilians, including security personnel, were killed in KP in 2025. By the first week of December, 137 police personnel were killed and 236 were injured. The report also stated that 348 terrorists were killed in various operations, while 8 suicidal attacks took place in the province. A total of 557 firing incidents were reported in 14 districts of KP. The report further revealed that terrorists carried out 68 grenade attacks, abducted 84 people, and committed 138 cases of extortion. Four suspects were placed on the Fourth Schedule.
The CTD report also revealed that 30 cases of terrorism financing were reported, while 54 drone attacks were carried out by terrorists. A total of 116 target killings were reported in terrorism-related incidents. The report also stated that 102 terrorism-related incidents took place in South Waziristan.
In a separate development, the Director General of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions, Sindh, has directed the authorities to take strict action against private educational institutions that have not implemented the Freedom of Information Act. MQM sources revealed that Shamaeel Imran Farooq was undergoing treatment in a London hospital due to cancer.
