Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to rename the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in the provincial capital, Peshawar, after Imran Khan.
According to sources, the provincial government has planned to dedicate the stadium to former Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan.
The Sports Department has prepared a summary recommending that the stadium be renamed Imran Khan Cricket Stadium. This proposal will be presented in the provincial cabinet meeting tomorrow, where its approval is highly anticipated.
Meanwhile, the construction cost of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium has seen a significant rise over the years. Initially, in 2018, the estimated cost was Rs 1.37 billion, which increased to Rs 1.94 billion in 2021. By 2024, the total cost has surged to Rs 2.31 billion.
