The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has formed an investigative committee to probe the Radio Pakistan Peshawar incident, which took place recently. The committee’s formation was decided after a resolution was passed in the Provincial Assembly. According to the notification issued for the formation of the committee, Provincial Minister for Law Aftab Alam will be the chairman of the committee. The members of the committee will include Provincial Assembly members Tariq Saeed, Malik Adil Akbar, Muhammad Iqbal, Asif Khan, Abdul Ghani Fazal-e-Haq, Sameeullah, Tariq Mahmood, Ahmad Kareem Kandi, Adnan Khan, Arbab Muhammad Wasim, Muhammad Nisar, Sajjadullah, and Muhammad Rashad Khan. The committee will investigate the causes, reasons, and circumstances of the incident and submit a report to the Provincial Assembly after completing its investigation. The report will also be presented to the Provincial Cabinet. Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDA) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a warning regarding the rain and snowfall in the province.
In a separate development, former Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Shamshad Akhtar passed away. The annual report of the Islamabad High Court was also released. In a recent interview, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi stated that Pakistan was isolated diplomatically when he took the oath of office.
